Do not exchange links with bad neighbors Today’s search engine optimization is based on text links and exchanging links with other blogs is a great way to get them. This way you will also get back links that will help you get a better ranking from Google. But remember that exchanging links with blogs or Websites that are penalized can have some negative results.

Any blog and mostly Website that has been penalized by Google or is involved in “Black hat” SEO techniques will definitely hurt your blog if you link to them. A good practice is to check out before exchanging links with a Website that has thousands of unique visitors every day. It is also better to check out before submitting a blog to unknown and new directories that have a lot of visitors.

Other websites may be penalized by Google due to illegal activity outside Google SEO guidelines and these Websites may no longer show up in results on Google Website. The most important is that all these Websites can harm your Page rank.

To protect your blog try Bad neighborhood text link tool. This will give you information on links in detail. This is a very useful tool for webmasters.

There is the possibility of a cascade too. One link with a bad neighbor could spawn many more bad links as traffic from that site likes yours.
