301 redirect using Redirection plugin

Author: admin | Files under SEO tips

Using optimized permalink structure is very important for SE optimization. Since I started blogging I have used numeric permalinks with the ending 123. I have decided to change it and use optimized permalinks to get a better ranking. After changes made with permalinks all the posts were inaccessible from Google. Google could have seen my old content and show only old links. To show everything visually I have made a screen how my links appeared on Google.
Wrong permalinks structure
I have used:

hxxp://www.digit-8.com/archives/115

and I have changed it to custom structure:
SEO friendly permalinks structure

/%category%/%postname%/

Every visitor has been directed to “404 error Page”.  To fix it I have found very useful plugin named Redirection. It is easy to use it. I would recommend to restore old permalinks, install this plugin, activate it and change new structure of permalinks.  It takes just a couple of minutes to redirect to new URL. You may redirect all your links. I have redirected links i wanted manually. 301 redirect is one of the best method for redirection and the redirection plugin is the best to do it easily because it is not necessary to edit .htaccess file.  If you have something to share feel free to leave a comment.

    Hi,

I’ve an SEO question for you.

    I’ve two domains.
    lenvica.com
    lenvica.in

Which of the following is better in terms of SEO.
    1. One of the domains redirected to the other with a ‘301 redirect’
    2. Both domains as separate websites(with similar content) with both pointing to each other.

For now, both of these domains have PR3.

    Thanks,
    Brijesh.
