For more than two years I have been using one web hosting, it is called Ixwebhosting. I believe everyone knows it. I have never had any problems with it but one day they wrote me a letter. A letter was about a violation of the “Fair-Use” portion of the TOS. They gave me recommendations what to do but the most important is that they said this domain I use is using a disproportional amount of simultaneous connections and that this is causing a shortage of available connections on the server, which is significantly impacting the performance of my account and the accounts of other customers on the same server.

Well, they offered me to reduce the amount of simultaneous connections allowed to my domain. Keep reading and you will be shocked. When I did buy this domain they offered me UNLIMITED traffic and bandwidth. What does the word “unlimited” mean? It means that there should not be any limitations. I paid for it several years ago, but they wrote me that traffic comes with limitations such as Fair-Use portion of their terms of service, which promotes an equal sharing of server resources among all customers. They have accentuated that all hosting providers work in this fashion today. However, remember that I have paid for unlimited traffic. So does this mean that they offer traffic, but later you get it limited? They wanted me to reduce the amount of simultaneous connections allowed to my domain, and if I choose not to continue to host with them, they will refund the amount of money I have paid. Most of all they wanted me to buy their dedicated server. So as you can see UNLIMITED means “WILL BE LIMITED”.
All I had to do was to change throttle policy, to turn it on. However, the most frustrating thing was that they blocked my blog without telling me, they just blocked my blog’s IP so it was unreachable for visitors. They told me if I turn throttle policy on, they will re-enable my site.
