I have always been wondering if Google Analytics may have a negative effect in Google’s search engine results (SERP). First, to clarify all the things I want to say that Google Analytics may be used to track conversions on any website. Any website or blog can have it installed to get all the information. Nowadays, all webmasters use it, so it is very important to find out what effect it can have on your website.

So, does it have a negative effect? The answer is NO. Google Analytics is not related to search quality. So if you use Google Analytics or do not use Google Analytic, it will not affect your ranking within Google’s search results.

Well, another very important question is about site speed. The question is if it can slow down a site. Google Analytics has recently introduced new asynchronous JavaScript code you can add on to your page, and it will wait and load up that JavaScript after the toolbar unloads event. So even if you are worried about, well what if Google Analytics might slow your page down a little, they are actually on the cutting edge of having good JavaScript that won’t effect the load time for users. It should be completely safe to add Google Analytics, whether you are tracking your website, or if you are just looking at the sort of searches that people use to show up on your site.

So as you can see it is completely safe to use Google Analytics.

SEO or Search engine optimization is very important and every website has to be optimized for SEO to get high rankings. However, there are many useless factors that do not even make any necessary influence on your website or blog. I will list 10 facts, which may be considered as unnecessary tips for SEO.

Fact 1. Submit URLs to search engines. It is no longer necessary to submit your website URL or any other link to search engines to make it visible. Just get a back link from any other website and your website will be reachable for everyone.

Fact 2. You must have a Google sitemap. If you have correctly made website, there is no need to have a sitemap. If you have sitemap it doesn’t hurt your website or blog, and it is not necessary because it won’t get you better rankings.

Fact 3. Update your site frequently. Updating your site doesn’t mean you have to change something. Frequent updates will not increase your rankings. Updating your content is a great way to get back links and all the back links may get you better rankings.

Fact 4. Pay per click advertisements will increase or decrease rankings. People say that Google Adwords may increase rankings but there are many more people who say that Adwords may decrease blog’s or website’s rankings. Neither of the propositions are true.

Fact5. Your blog will be banned if you do not follow Google guidance. Everyone can read Google Webmaster’s guidelines. If you do not try Black hat SEO tips your website will not lose rankings.

Fact 6. If you buy links your website will get a ban. It is not true because if you buy links your website will never be banned from Google. Your website may get better rankings only. They do not allow to participate in link schemes. People can buy or sell links because it is a part of internet business.

Fact 7. Use H1 for better rankings. It is very hard to prove that keywords in H1 tags make any effect for search engine rankings. Many tests have been made and none of them showed that keywords in H1 tags affect rankings. It is up to you to decide because it is a doubtful fact.

Fact 8. Use meta keywords on your page. Home keywords or meta keywords are ignored by Google and do not make any effect. This is really funny to read posts that meta keywords can help you get visitors but this is an old fact.

Fact 9. Use 250 words in post to get better rankings for SEO. It is absolutely untruth and it’s not necessary to write 250 words or more to get better rankings. Even short stories get great rankings because of back links.

Fact 10. Optimize for long keyword phrases. This fact is not true because you will not be competitive for long keyword phrases. It is good to optimize for short keywords or for two, three words in length. It is also great to make keyword phrases in bold in your text.

I hope these untrue facts will help you understand the facts about SEO and its rankings.

10 Must Use SEO Tips for Wordpress,

While it is often mentioned that WordPress has been designed to be SEO friendly out of the box, there are quite a few tweaks that you can make to your installation to guarantee that your blog will be on a higher level above many others. Implement these 10 SEO tips for WordPress below and you will definitely see a boost in the search engine results.

1. Use a Sitemap Generator. Sitemaps inform the search engines where your content is located, which helps get it indexed properly and as a result visits to your website. Sitemaps are a crucial element of any website’s SEO strategy and blogs are no exception. Creating a sitemap in WordPress is a painless process. Simply install the Google XML Sitemaps plugin, set it up and you’re ready to go. Even though it’s called a Google sitemap generator, the sitemaps it can generate are also formatted for the other popular search engines such as Yahoo, Bing, and Ask. This plugin will rebuild your XML sitemap automatically, notifying the search engines of new content in need of crawling.

2. Use Pretty Permalinks. Permalinks are the permanent links which are produced for each post on your blog. By default, WordPress sets your permalinks to: http://w w w.domain.com/?p=1234. By customizing the permalinks, you can make the URL more suitable for search engines and have a link such as: http://w w w.domain.com/category/the-post-title/. To edit the way in which your permalinks appear, log into your admin panel and select Options -> Permalinks. Enter /%category%/%postname%/ under the custom field and then click on update permalink structure. While this should be enough for the average user, if you’re looking for additional options to customize your permalinks then take a look at the Advanced Permalinks plugin.

3. Check for the Proper Use of Header Tags. Your blog title and main keyword needs to be in a <h1> tag. Should your subtitle have keywords as well, then it is possible to place it in a <h2> tag. If not, then it is a good idea to place it in a non-header tag such as <div>. All of your blog post titles should be placed in <h2> tags, and section titles in the sidebar should preferably be in either <h3> tags or non-header tags. Not all themes are mindful of these recommendations, and so you may have to manually adjust the theme you are using to take advantage of this SEO tactic.

4. Don’t Forget Traditional SEO Practices. In the end, a WordPress blog is a website like any other and so standard SEO strategies must be kept in mind. These include bolding your keywords at sensible times, building incoming backlinks, ensuring that you’re writing quality content, and so on. When checking for keyword density, you may find the Keyword Statistics plugin useful.

5. Integrate Social Media Services. Including social networking links allows your visitors to promote your top quality blog posts. Social websites are a terrific way to effortlessly build links, along with generating targeted traffic to your website. You can use popular plugins such as AddToAny, Sociable, or ShareThis to easily integrate social bookmarking services into your blog.

6. Install a SEO Plugin for Automatic Optimization. You can quickly automate SEO optimization of your blog by using All-in-One SEO or HeadSpace2. Both are excellent plugins, and while All-in-One SEO has a shorter learning curve and is compatible with most WordPress plugins, some feel that HeadSpace2 allows for more customization.

7. Use Pinging. Pinging is a way to notify bots that your blog has new or updated content. By default, WordPress will ping a central site, Ping-o-matic, which will then ping a collection of others. To add more services, go to the admin panel and select Options > Writing. Consider adding popular pinging services such as Google Blog Search, which is http:// blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2.

8. Make Use of the Title and ALT Attributes in Links. It’s important to take advantage of these two attributes in your links. Also, by using a plugin like SEO Friendly Images you can automatically have all of your images optimized with alt and title attributes.

9. Use an Optimized Robots.txt File. You want to make sure you block certain directories from search engine bots and direct them to the content that you want them to crawl. This can be done manually if you’re familiar with the robots.txt file, but I recommend you use iRobots.txt SEO (IRSEO) to get the job done.

10. Link Within Your Blog. Interior linking helps with the general crawling of your blog, and it also keeps your readers focused on your content. One way to create keyword-rich anchor text for internal linking is by using the SEO Smart Links plugin.

Melissa Tamura writes about online degrees for the Zen College Life blog. She most recently wrote about the best nursing schools in the USA.

URL structure is important for any Wordpress blog if you want to tell readers more about the post and content. I remember that I have read about structure of the URL and which structure may be the best. I have found many suggestions and all of them were very similar. I know that it is really hard to decide what URL structure to use so I will try to share my ideas to help you with it.

Bloggers always ask what structure to use and which one is the best. They also care about the page rank and how it flows within a site. Well, what is a negative side of the structure domainname(.)com/year/month/day/post-name/? If a user finds interesting information it is very good but the main thing is that he can see the date of the post. And we don’t want our visitors to look for a newer version of the article we want him to stay on our site as long as possible. This structure makes URL a little bit uglier. Just take a simple URL structure domainname(.)com/post-name. That is very easy for users to remember and it is very simple URL.

Another question is “has this to do with how page rank flows within a site?”. Google doesn’t worry about how deep a set of directories is. Matt Cutts has admitted it. So if you had your root page and you linked directly to a very deep page, that page would still get the PageRank from the root page. I am not sure about the Yahoo or Bing but Google doesn’t really worry about that very much.

It would be fine to have year/month/day in terms of the PageRank would still flow within a site just fine based on links. So you wonder which way to use? It is kinda up to you.

Webmasters or bloggers sometimes do not understand the value of nofollow attribute and very often they say something that is not true. That is why people have many questions about unfollowed links. They think that there is a connection between nofollow and do follow links, that one link can affect the other.

People wonder if there is one link in a web page that all other links are nofollowed as well. We are talking about one page linking to another page and one of the links is nofollowed. Google team members have given a very clear answer so there can not be any doubts. Well, nofollows are done at a specific link level, not at a page level. So if you have one nofollow link all other links will remain unaffected.

Google team will check if there’s no issues with that, but nofollows apply at an individual link level. They don’t affect the other links on the page. Read a short explanation about nofollow attribute and how it can help you. Now you can choose what links you want to be nofollowed because all other links on a page will be unaffected.
