Blogroll is a part of the blog. It is a list of links to other blogs or Websites. This widget can be removed manually. I have seen many blogs with this widget activated and only several blogs without it. Bloggers use it to exchange links. Exchanging links may get you visitors however the most important question is whether you will get real visitors from other blogs.
Since I started blogging I thought that exchanging links on a Blogroll will help me to get visitors and this way improve the traffic of my blog. I can’t answer to you this question neither positive nor negative. My opinion is that Blogroll isn’t very useful. First, if a blogger links to you and his blog isn’t very popular and has no traffic it is possible that you will not get any visitor from that blog. I have noticed that bloggers with a low traffic try to exchange links more often than bloggers with a high traffic. Bloggers with a high traffic use it for other purposes. Mostly friends and their very popular blogs are listed on the list. Second, You need to get a backlink from a blog which has a high traffic. But there is no guarantee that visitor will come.
There other thing I don’t like is to see my link on a list which has more than 20 links on a blogroll. This way a link becomes invisible among other links. And the last but not least thing is to see a link scrolling up or down on a blogroll. Have you ever tried to track where your visitors come from? Also take a look at the offer for every blogger.
