5 Things That Could Happen in Social Media on 2013

Author: admin | Files under Blogging tips

Top Social Media Networks 2012 seems to have been quite a year for social media. As more and more people begin tuning in to social media, people have begun predicting what might happen in this year of 2013, possibly making it a crazier year for the world of social media. Here are 5 things that people are predicting that could happen within 2013.

1) Facebook will continue monetizing its services

The social media giant continues to assert its position as the biggest social media giant today. With Facebook now having over 1 billion members, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg has already made billions of money through this site. As such, it is likely that Facebook will continue to monetize their services for those who really need it, especially now that Facebook doesn’t seem to be slowing down or showing any signs of stopping.

2) Content marketing will be a major strategy

In 2012, both people and businesses finally understood and accept the importance of Content Marketing. Now that they will take it more seriously, 2013 could be the year where content marketing will be an even more powerful marketing strategy, as businesses that have already seen how effective the method is will greatly increase their efforts in implementing strategies for social marketing. For this year, do not be surprised if a lot of industries start marketing their stuff online.

3) Google+ will become more aggressive

Unlike Facebook and Twitter, Google+ didn’t start off so well. This does not mean that this site is considered down for the count, as Google has been implementing feature upgrades and such on Google+. 2013 may be the year when Google goes out in full force and becomes a social media giant that can rival or even surpass the likes of Facebook. One such feature Google+ has is “Communities”, which works similarly to Facebook groups. That is only the beginning, however; before you know it, everything you do in the Internet might be linked to Google+ somehow.

4) More industries will go online

Many traditional companies who at first wanted to stay with their tried-and-true methods of marketing have realized that they will have to adapt and make their online presence known if they wish to continue being in business. 2013 may be the year when they cast aside their traditional business methods and begin adapting to where all the consumers are: online.

5) The power of images will strengthen

Everyone loves sharing images in their favorite social media sites. They did that the whole of 2012, so 2013 might have even more people doing it as well. People have noticed that images are more likely to be shared than any other kind of content. It helps that image sharing these days are so instant and easy. This has been realized by some businesses to be an effective marketing strategy. With all this in mind, you can expect image sharing sites like Instagram to have even more shared content in the coming year.
