System shutdown status code 1073741819 and how to fix it?

Author: admin | Files under Security tips

SasserAfter a windows update I got this status code: 1073741819. The system then shuts down. I’ve google’d it on another computer and windows has a fix…. installing the latest service pack. I will try to tell how to fix it. That error is probably caused by the Sasser Worm. So first, enable the Internet Connection Firewall (Usually should be enabled all the time), then follow the instructions i will mention below. Enabling the Internet Connection Firewall should help to keep you online long enough to download the security patch. If the Shutdown’s countdown begins before you’re able to access the site and download the patch, click Start>Run, and enter “shutdown -a” (without the quotation marks) when the countdown begins….this will abort the shutdown.

So if you are using WinXP to connect to the net but the computer shuts down after a few minutes with this message: NT Authority. A process terminated unexpectently C:\windows\system32\lsass.exe with an error code of 1073741819. Also you can get a message saying it’s services.exe.

You can download and install Security Update for Windows XP (KB835732) to remove Sasser worm. There is a removal tool for the Sasser worm available for download Removal tool . And Microsoft also now has a removal tool.

To protect yourself from future worms like that, check Windows Update for Critical Updates and Service Packs. Also, you could frequently visit Microsoft Technet Security in order to check out the Latest Security Bulletins.

If it’s either the Balster or Saser virus. To fix it ensure your virus definitions are up to date (You can down load them to a disk or CD from another computer and load them on yours.) Accomplish a disk clean up to get rid of junk files. If you’re using Win XP turn off the restore function (you don’t want too be able to restore the virus later). Run a virus scan in both the regular mode and Safe mode. On the Norton and Microsoft web sites they have patches to plug the holes where the viruses came in. Down load them from a good computer (not yours) and load the patches on yours. The viruses come in the moment you log onto the net unless the patches are installed. Read the articles in the Microsoft and Norton websites on the mentioned viruses. Turn the Restore feature back on!!!!

If the worms are not found on your computer try to run in a safe mode then load up and run the removal programs (fixblast and fixsasser removal tools).

If your computer is infected, your computer may operate normally, may appear sluggish, or may restart every few minutes without your input.
If your computer is infected, you may see the error message.
If your system is shutting down, follow these steps to stop the cycle. Then proceed to remove the worm.
